Every problem in living presents a unique growth opportunity. My first objective as a therapist is to develop a respectful and compassionate relationship within which I can help clients harness their innate ability to heal and transform suffering. I assist in the process of growth and change by promoting nonjudgmental mindful awareness of thoughts and feelings. Within this framework, I use a multimodal approach, combining tools and techniques appropriate to the person and circumstances. These tools could include an assessment of cognitions and developmental history, a deep focus on emotions as well as sensations within the body, guided visualization, mindfulness exercises, and dream interpretation, among others. In addition, my background in systems theory and therapy has contributed to my belief that understanding the context within which problems evolve and persist provides ideas for action in our closest relationships. I believe gaining a deeper understanding of oneself as well as consciously choosing new ways of action enhances personal growth and improves relationships with those around us.
