My background in systems theory and therapy has contributed to my belief that understanding the context within which problems evolve and persist provides ideas for action in our closest relationships. I believe gaining a deeper understanding of oneself  – as well as consciously choosing new ways of action – enhances personal growth and improves relationships with those around us. This is a perspective I bring to my work with couples as well as individuals. In addition, my deep emotional work with individuals has had at its’ core a focus on helping them build upon their ability to be mindfully aware of their own inner experience, with an attitude of compassion and acceptance. The orientations of Systems and Mindfulness, as studied and practiced over many years, have set me up to be a perfect fit with the Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) model, which incorporates both of these approaches.
